Demand Drains

Creating clean, dry air for your compressor is one of the best ways to ensure its reliability as well as efficient air production. One of the most common outside contaminants within air compressors occurs when excess moisture mixes with oil and creates condensate. Condensate can collect and be responsible for:

  • Buildup of rust and increased wear to moving parts within the compression system
  • Damage to downstream components and processes

Because condensate can cause damage to your air compression system, Airtec designs custom solutions to help you best manage the presence of condensate within your system. Our Demand Drains are the perfect way to thoroughly remove condensate from your compressed air system with minimal loss of air pressure.  We stock many of the leading brands and can offer our expert care in set-up and installation.

Demand Drains We Use

demand drain
Robo-Drain RD 11

This drain in completely automatic, requires no electricity, has zero loss, and is ideal for oil/water separators. Condensate enters the drain through one of two inlet connections. As condensate is collected and the translucent reservoir fills, a stainless steel float mechanism rises. When the condensate reaches a design level, the float mechanism actuates an isolated magnetic trigger assembly.

demand drain
Dehydra 52

This drain in completely automatic, has zero loss, and is requires no electricity. The drain can be used for filters, dryers, aftercoolers, or receivers. Condensate enters the drain through one of two inlet connections. A non-metallic float is tethered to a float arm. As condensate is collected and the translucent reservoir fills, the float rises. When the condensate reaches a design level, the float lifts the trigger assembly and a drain cycle is initiated.

demand drain
EZ-Drain

This drain is automatic, zero loss, and requires no external power utility. It is ideal for aftercoolers, receivers, dryers, filters, or drip legs. Condensate enters the drain through one of two inlet connections. A stainless steel float is attached to a lever arm. Attached to the other side of the lever arm is a filter protected poppet assembly. As condensate is collected and the translucent reservoir fills, a stainless steel float mechanism rises.

demand drain
Accu-Drain

This drain in completely automatic, has zero loss, and is energy efficient. Condensate enters the drain through one of two inlet connections. As condensate is collected and the translucent reservoir fills, a stainless steel level switch rises. When the condensate reaches a design level, the level switch sends a signal to the straight flow posi valve, which in turn opens a full-port drain.

demand drain
Exactronic Drain System

This drain is energy efficient and combines the best of float drains and timer operated ball valve drains. The drain is also ideal for most compressor applications. Condensate enters the drain through one of two inlet connections. As condensate is collected and the translucent reservoir fills, a stainless steel level switch rises. When the condensate reaches a design level, the level switch sends a signal to the electric valve accuator which in turn opens a full-port drain.

Easy and Effective Condensate Management

Demand drain benefits:

  • Thorough removal of condensate from you air compression system
    • Minimal loss of air pressure
  • Drains only as needed
    • Demand drains can detect when they are needed and drain automatically
  • Highly energy efficient
    • Some demand drains require no power

In addition to remove harmful condensate from your air compression system, demand drains can improve your energy efficiency. Demand drains require minimal power to function, and some models require no power source whatsoever. By using a demand drain, you can prevent pressure drops and irregular performance. Demand drains can also help you save time by removing the need to regularly empty condensate from your system by hand or properly set up a timer drain.

If you are unsure of how to properly install your demand drain, we at Airtec can help. As experts in air compression systems, we can provide the insight needed outfit any compression system with a demand drain.

Regardless of the size of your system, Airtec can make a condensate management solution tailored to your needs. We work hard to bring efficiency to your compressed air system, and effective condensate management is a great way of doing that. Call or email us and let us help you improve the performance of your system.
