Description

What is the EXAIR ultrasonic leak detector?
The Ultrasonic Leak Detector (ULD) is a high-fidelity instrument that easily fits in the palm of your hand and can locate costly compressed air leaks in your system.
Eliminating air waste is the first step towards achieving significant compressed air savings.
Simple to use, the operator just needs to point it towards the line or instrument to be checked, and due to the directional transmission of the ultrasonic sound generated by the escaping fluid through a hole, the leak source is easy to identify.
Plants can easily waste up to 30% of their air production through leaks that usually go unnoticed. Compressing air is an expensive operation. Avoiding compressed air waste drastically reduces operating expenses. In large plants, the cost of a small air leak may seem insignificant, but when many small leaks are found and repaired, they represent a huge energy savings. EXAIR ultrasonic leak detection solutions make it easier to pinpoint and fix these issues efficiently, while also explaining how ultrasonic leak detectors work EXAIR.

What is ultrasonic sound?
Ultrasonic sound is a range of sound that is above the human hearing capacity. Most people can hear frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Sound within the frequency range of 20 kHz to 100 kHz cannot be heard and is called "ultrasound." The EXAIR ultrasonic leak detector converts ultrasonic sound emissions into an audible range. The sound generated by the ULD is 32 times lower in frequency than the sound received.

What is ultrasound and how is it generated by an air leak at Airtec Services? Ultrasound travels directionally and its intensity increases as it gets closer to the source. The turbulence created by air forced through a small hole generates ultrasonic sound. This emitted sound is called "white noise" and is produced when air moves from a high-pressure area, such as a pipe or container, and escapes into a low-pressure area, such as the surrounding environment. The ultrasonic leak detection systems EXAIR converts the turbulent flow into a frequency that can be heard through headphones. As the ULD approaches the leak, more LEDs on the display light up to confirm the source of the leak, using EXAIR air leak detection technology.
